You might not believe it is possible to lose weight while on a diet which includes wexford Christmas cake but it can happen. It is pivotal to not eat wexford Christmas cake or other high calorie desserts every day but in moderation.
For example, I allow myself rich food one day per week. I eat a low calorie diet 6 days a week, say 1400 to 2000 calories each day, and then on the last day, I eat what I please – without going overboard of course.
I have been sticking to this diet for the last 2 weeks and it has enabled me to lose 5 kilos. I have not accelerated my exercise habits or taken any pills or diet food. I have simply been aware of what I eat on most days and then eat whatever I feel like one day of the week.
On my one day off per week, I like to eat irish food. I never believed I could lose 5 kilos while eating irish meals but am very elated to see it can work. If you feel like trying some irish food, I advise you make wexford Christmas cake which is one of my most admired irish recipes.
3 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons brown sugar
6 eggs
1/3 cup whiskey
1 2/3 cups white raisins
1 2/3 cups dark raisins
1 3/4 cups currants
1/2 cup mixed candied fruit, chopped
1/2 cup almonds, ground
1/2 cup chopped almonds
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1/2 cup whiskey
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F. Line 9-inch tube pan with brown paper, then grease the paper.
Sift flour, baking powder and cinnamon.
Cream butter and ad brown sugar gradually, beating until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition. Add flour mixture and the 1/3 cup whiskey. Blend well. Fold in fruit and nuts. Turn into prepared pan. Bake for 3 hours.
Brush hot cake with 1/4 cup whiskey. Cool cake in pan.
Remove from pan and remove paper. Brush with 1/4 cup whiskey. Wrap and store in foil.
You can adapt the recipe to make it a little healthier or with not so many calories as this can assist you to lose 5 kilos rapidly. It was successful for me and could assist you to lose weight as well.
