You may not accept that it is possible to lose weight while on a eating plan which includes sangria but it can happen. The key is to not eat sangria or other high calorie beverages every day but in moderation.
For example, I allow myself rich food one day per week. I eat a healthy diet 6 days a week, say 1500 to 1600 calories per day, and then one day, I eat what I please – without going overboard of course.
I have been using this method for the last 6 weeks and it has enabled me to lose 5 kilos. I have not accelerated my exercise plan or taken any vitamins or diet aids. I have only been aware of what I eat most days of the week and then eat whatever I like one day of the week.
I also think it is helpful if you have a little support when on a weight loss program and for that I signed up with the Biggest Loser club. They have several tools to enable you to monitor your progress and attain your goals.
On my one day off|non diet day|free day per week, I like|prefer|tend|usually like to eat spanish food. I never imagined|thought|believed I could lose 5 kilos while eating spanish meals but am very pleased|happy|glad|elated to see it is possible|does work|can work|can happen. 1/2 lime, thinly sliced
1/2 lemon, thinly sliced
1/2 orange, thinly sliced
6 to 8 large ripe strawberries, hulled
1/4 cup granulated sugar, or to taste
1 (750 ml) bottle dry red wine (preferably Spanish)
1/4 cup Cognac or other good quality brandy
Club soda, chilled
Ice (optional)
Combine the lime, lemon, and orange slices, strawberries and sugar in a large pitcher. Mash with a wooden spoon to release the juices. Add the wine and brandy and stir to dissolve the sugar. Taste and add more sugar if necessary. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until well chilled.
Just before serving, add chilled club soda to taste. Serve in wine glasses, with or without ice.
Serves 4 to 6.
