You might not think it is possible to lose weight while on a diet which includes puerto rican beef stew but it can happen. It is fundamental to not eat puerto rican beef stew or other high calorie beef/pork/lamb/veal every day but in moderation.

As an example, I allow myself high calorie food one day per week. I eat a low calorie diet for 6 days of the week, say 1500 to 1800 calories a day, and then on the last day, I eat anything – without going overboard of course.

I have been sticking to this diet for the last month and it has helped me to lose 5 kilos. I have not changed my exercise routine or taken any pills or diet aids. I have simply been aware of what I eat 6 days per week and then eat whatever I want one day per week.

On my one non diet day per week, I usually like to eat caribbean food. I never believed I could lose 5 kilos while eating caribbean meals but am very elated to see it is possible. If you want to try some caribbean food, I advise you make puerto rican beef stew which is one of my most adored caribbean recipes.

Puerto Rican Beef Stew

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 pounds beef top round, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 green bell peppers, seeded and chopped
2 onions, chopped
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup tomato sauce
3 bay leaves
Salt and freshly-ground pepper, to taste
1/2 pound carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 pound potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
1 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup pimento stuffed olives
1/4 cup (60 ml) raisins

Heat the vegetable oil in a large, heavy pot over moderate heat and brown the meat. Add the peppers, onions, garlic, cilantro, vinegar, oregano, tomato sauce, bay leaves, salt and pepper and simmer covered for 1 hour.

Add the carrots and potatoes and simmer 1 hour, or until the meat is tender. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer an additional 15 minutes.

Serves 6 to 8.

You can alter the recipe to make it quite a bit healthier or with not so many calories as this can assist you to lose 5 kilos rapidly. It did work for me and could assist you to lose weight as well.
