pecan toffee

You might not accept that you could lose weight while on a diet plan which includes pecan toffee but it is feasible. It is crucial to not eat pecan toffee or other high calorie desserts every day but in moderation.

For instance, I allow myself moderately high calorie food once per week. I eat a healthy diet for most of the week, say 1400 to 1600 calories a day, and then 1 day, I eat what I please – within moderation of course.

I have been eating this way for the last few weeks and it has enabled me to lose 5 kilos. I have not accelerated my exercise regime or taken any supplements or diet food. I have just been conscious of what I eat most days of the week and then eat whatever I feel like one day of the week.

On my one free day per week, I like to eat southwestern food. I never believed I could lose 5 kilos while eating southwestern meals but am very glad to see it can happen. If you feel like trying some southwestern food, I advise you make pecan toffee which is one of my best loved southwestern recipes.

Pecan Toffee

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
6 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) or
    semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans

Line a 9-inch square baking pan with foil, overlapping sides. Butter foil. Melt the 1 cup butter in a heavy medium saucepan over medium heat. Add sugar and cream of tartar and stir until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to medium-high. Brush down sides of pan with a wet pastry brush. Cook until mixture registers 310 degrees F on a candy thermometer, stirring occasionally, about 11 minutes.

Immediately pour toffee into prepared pan. Let stand 1 minute. Sprinkle with chocolate. Let stand 2 minutes to soften. Spread chocolate with the back of a spoon over toffee until melted and smooth. Sprinkle with pecans. Refrigerate until firm.

Remove toffee from pan, using foil as an aid. Break into 3-inch pieces. This can be prepared four days ahead, then chilled in an airtight container.

You can adjust the recipe to make it a little healthier or with fewer calories as this can aid you to lose 5 kilos rapidly. It worked for me and could aid you to lose weight also.
