native american pudding

You might not think you could lose weight while on a diet plan which includes native american pudding but it is achievable. The key is to not eat native american pudding or other high calorie desserts, sweets every day but in moderation.

As an example, I allow myself moderately high calorie food once per week. I eat a calorie controlled diet for 6 days of the week, say 1500 to 2000 calories per day, and then 1 day, I eat what I please – without going crazy of course.

I have been eating this way for the last 6 weeks and it has enabled me to lose 5 kilos. I have not accelerated my exercise routine or taken any vitamins or diet aids. I have only been aware of what I eat 6 days per week and then eat whatever I like one day per week.

I also feel it makes things easier if you have a little support when trying to lose weight and for that I signed up with the Biggest Loser club. They have numerous tools to help you monitor your progress and reach your goals.

Native American Pudding

4 cups milk
1 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon dried ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 1/2 cups raisins or dried currants

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Butter a 2-quart casserole.

In a saucepan, combine 3 cups of the milk and all the maple syrup over medium heat. Heat  until just boiling and add butter.

In a separate bowl, combine cornmeal, ginger and nutmeg. Gradually stir cornmeal mixture into hot milk. Reduce heat to low and cook until thickened, about 10 minutes.

Fold in raisins or currants. Spoon mixture into the casserole. Pour remaining milk over pudding; do not stir. Bake pudding 2 1/2 hours or until all of the milk has been absorbed and top is golden brown. Serve warm, topped with ice cream, if desired.
