You possibly will not think you can lose weight while on a diet which includes latvian gingerbread but it can happen. It is fundamental to not eat latvian gingerbread or other high calorie desserts every day but in moderation.
This is what I do, I allow myself moderately high calorie food one day per week. I eat a healthy diet for 6 days of the week, say 1200 to 2000 calories a day, and then on the 7th day, I eat whatever I like – without going crazy of course.
I have been eating this way for the last 2 weeks and it has enabled me to lose 5 kilos. I have not accelerated my exercise regime or taken any supplements or diet aids. I have only been careful of what I eat on most days and then eat whatever I want one day of the week.
On my one non diet day per week, I like to eat hungarian food. I never imagined I could lose 5 kilos while eating hungarian meals but am very pleased to see it can happen. If you feel like trying some hungarian food, I suggest you make latvian gingerbread which is one of my best loved hungarian recipes.
1/3 cup molasses
1 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons lard (it must be lard)
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup honey
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
1/2 teaspoon coriander
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Combine molasses, brown sugar, lard, butter and honey in a pot, heat until everything is melted together, but DO NOT SCORCH. If you do, the gingerbread won’t hold together. Add the 2 1/2 coups flour and spices to the mixture. Let the mixture cool a bit. Add eggs, then let the mixture cool completely. Add the 2 1/4 cups flour (a little bit more if the dough is sticky when kneading), baking soda and baking powder. Knead until smooth and not sticky. Refrigerate overnight.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Roll the dough out quite thin and press gingerbread shapes. Bake until just golden and lightly brown underneath, about 3 to 5 minutes, depending on your oven. Let cool, then remove from pan.
You can alter the recipe to make it a little healthier or with not so many calories as this can assist you to lose 5 kilos rapidly. It worked for me and could assist you to lose weight also.
