You might not accept that you can lose weight while on a diet which includes german onion cake but it is possible. The key is to not eat german onion cake or other high calorie desserts every day but in moderation.
This is what I do, I allow myself rich food one day per week. I eat a reduced calorie diet for most of the week, say 1500 to 1600 calories a day, and then one day, I eat whatever I like - without going crazy of course.
I have been eating like this for the last 4 weeks and it has aided me to lose 5 kilos. I have not changed my exercise plan or taken any pills or diet aids. I have simply been conscious of what I eat most days of the week and then eat whatever I feel like one day of the week.
On my one day off per week, I tend to eat German & Austrian food. I never thought I could lose 5 kilos while eating German & Austrian meals but am very elated to see it can work. 2 cups coarsely chopped onions
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon salt, divided
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
4 teaspoons baking powder
5 tablespoons vegetable shortening
3/4 to 1 cup milk
1 egg, well beaten
3/4 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons poppy seeds
1/4 teaspoon paprika
In a medium skillet, saut? onions in butter over low heat until they just begin to brown, about 15 minutes. Season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and the marjoram and pepper. Set aside to cool.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder and remaining salt in a bowl. Add shortening and mix as for pie crust until texture of soft crumbs. Add milk and mix quickly to form a soft dough. Oil a 10-inch round cake pan; with fingers, lightly spread dough out evenly. Spread cooked onion over top. Mix egg and sour cream. Spoon this mixture over onions, spreading it out to edges of pan. Sprinkle lightly with poppy seeds and paprika. Bake 20 minutes.
Let cool slightly, then cut into wedges.
You can change the recipe to make it a little healthier or with less calories as this can help you to lose 5 kilos rapidly. It worked for me and could aid you to lose weight as well.
