You may not think you could lose weight while on a diet which includes fried steak with beer sauce but it is possible. It is crucial to not eat fried steak with beer sauce or other high calorie beef/pork/lamb/veal every day but in moderation.

This is what I do, I allow myself moderately high calorie food one day per week. I eat a reduced calorie diet for 6 days of the week, say 1500 to 2000 calories a day, and then 1 day, I eat whatever I like – without going overboard of course.

I have been eating this way for the last few weeks and it has enabled me to lose 5 kilos. I have not increased my exercise routine or taken any pills or diet aids. I have simply been careful of what I eat on most days and then eat whatever I want one day of the week.

On my one day off per week, I like to eat German & Austrian food. I never imagined I could lose 5 kilos while eating German & Austrian meals but am very pleased to see it does work. If you feel like trying some German & Austrian food, I propose you make fried steak with beer sauce which is one of my most admired German & Austrian recipes.

Fried Steak with Beer Sauce (Hollandsche Biefstuk)

With this Flemish and Dutch favorite, serve buttered potatoes with parsley.

1 (1 1/2 pound) beef boneless sirloin
    steak, 1 inch thick
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup beer
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon packed brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
1/8 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves, crushed
Sliced scallions (with tops)

Slash outer edge of fat on beef diagonally at 1-inch intervals to prevent curling (do not cut into lean). Place beef in nonreactive dish. Mix vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper; spoon over both sides of beef. Cover and refrigerate, turning occasionally, at least 1 hour.

Heat butter over medium-high heat in 10-inch skillet until hot. Add beef and cook until desired doneness, about 7 minutes on each side for medium. Remove from heat; remove beef to warm platter.

Stir flour into pan drippings. Stir in beer, water, brown sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon pepper and rosemary. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cook and stir 1 minute. Pour sauce over beef; sprinkle with scallions.

Yields 4 or 5 servings.

You can adapt the recipe to make it a little bit healthier or with not so many calories as this can aid you to lose 5 kilos rapidly. It did work for me and could help you to lose weight also.
