You may not believe you could lose weight while on a diet which includes cajun smoked nuts but it is feasible. It is pivotal to not eat cajun smoked nuts or other high calorie appetizers, nuts every day but in moderation.
For example, I allow myself high calorie food once per week. I eat a calorie controlled diet for most of the week, say 1200 to 2000 calories each day, and then on the last day, I eat whatever I like – within moderation of course.
I have been eating like this for the last 4 weeks and it has enabled me to lose 5 kilos. I have not changed my exercise plan or taken any supplements or diet drinks. I have just been aware of what I eat most days of the week and then eat whatever I want one day per week.
I also believe it is helpful if you have a little support when on a weight loss program and for that I registered with the Biggest Loser club. They have several tools to help you monitor your progress and attain your goals.
On my one day off|non diet day|free day per week, I like|prefer|tend|usually like to eat cajun food. I never imagined|thought|believed I could lose 5 kilos while eating cajun meals but am very pleased|happy|glad|elated to see it is possible|does work|can work|can happen. Yield – 1 pound per type of nut
1 pound fresh shelled pecan halves
1 pound slivered almonds
1 pound mixed nuts
Preheat smoker to 125 degrees F. Evenly spread the nuts on 3 small sheet pans. (Keep the different types of nuts separate.) After 20 minutes of smoking use a spatula to turn nuts over. Move sheet pans to insure even smoking. Check nuts after 10 minutes for even smoking. Nuts should have a mild smoky flavor, crisp but not dried out, and a light tanned color. Modify smoking times for personal tastes.
Alternate Method
1 teaspoon granulated garlic and/or
1 teaspoon onion powder and/or
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Place nuts in a brown paper bag and add Chef’s choices of seasonings. Shake well to insure even coating. Then smoke nuts as described above.
The smoking of nuts along with other meats and seafood is recommended to save wood and time. Care should be taken to insure that meat drippings do not mix with nuts. Also smoking times will vary with temperature and smoker load.

These smoked/roasted nuts are good to eat by themselves, but they are better used as a garnish or topping for many smoked dishes.
