amish fry pies

You may not believe you can lose weight while on a diet which includes amish fry pies but it is possible. It is pivotal to not eat amish fry pies or other high calorie desserts every day but in moderation.

As an example, I allow myself rich food once per week. I eat a low calorie diet for 6 days of the week, say 1400 to 1600 calories a day, and then one day, I eat what I please – without going crazy of course.

I have been using this method for the last month and it has enabled me to lose 5 kilos. I have not accelerated my exercise plan or taken any pills or diet aids. I have just been aware of what I eat most days of the week and then eat whatever I want one day a week.

On my one non diet day per week, I tend to eat amish food. I never thought I could lose 5 kilos while eating amish meals but am very glad to see it can happen. If you would like to try some amish food, I advise you make amish fry pies which is one of my most admired amish recipes.

Amish Fry Pies

9 cups cake flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon salt
3 cups shortening
2 cups water
Thick fruit filling
Shortening for deep fat frying

Glaze
8 pounds powdered sugar
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/3 cup powdered milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups warm water

To make pies, combine in large mixing bowl the flour, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening until pieces are the size of small peas. Add water a little at a time until the four mixture is moistened. Form into 4 balls. Divide each ball into 10 pieces and roll each piece into a circle. Top one side of circle with filling and fold circle in half. Cramped edges to seal.

Heat shortening; fry a few pieces at a time in deep fat until golden brown. Cool on wire rack.

Meanwhile, in large mixing bowl, combine all glaze ingredients until smooth. While pies are still warm, dip them into glaze. Allow pies to drip on wire racks until cool.

Yields about 40 pies.

You can vary the recipe to make it quite a bit healthier or with fewer calories as this can assist you to lose 5 kilos rapidly. It was successful for me and could aid you to lose weight also.
